Biography:
Sergio Medina concentrates his practice on product liability, toxic tort and commercial litigation for Global 500 and internationally-based companies throughout the state and federal courts of Florida and in his native Puerto Rico. He has tried to verdict more than 15 trials as first- and co-chair, many of which involved high-exposure catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims. No matter the industry or claim, Sergio is committed to defending the design and manufacturing integrity of his clients' products. As a seasoned trial attorney, Sergio has significant experience defending medical device products, including latex gloves, pain pumps and surgical mesh. Additionally, his client list covers a wide array of domestic and international manufacturers of automobiles, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles as well as automotive products such as tires, brakes and air-bags. Sergio is also experienced defending manufacturers of heavy equipment, construction equipment, home appliances, chemical products, maritime vessels and personal watercraft. Specific to his toxic tort and asbestos experience, Sergio has defended automotive manufacturers, asbestos-containing friction and insulation products and chemical manufacturers in allegations of chronic and acute injury and wrongful death. He is familiar with the plaintiff's counsel and judges involved in these matters at the state and federal level. This knowledge, coupled with his deep understanding of the law and science that these cases often turn upon, helps him build a strong defense for his clients and strive for a favorable resolution of each claim. Sergio frequently handles product claims pending in his native Puerto Rico, both in the Federal and the Commonwealth Courts. He is also a certified civil mediator.
