Biography:
Henry Salas is a partner in the firm’s Miami and Key West offices. He practices in all phases of civil litigation focusing on Federal and State Civil Litigation focusing on the defense of products liability, admiralty/maritime, aviation and transportation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (“LHWCA”), bad faith/extra-contractual liability, toxic tort and commercial litigation. Mr. Salas leads the firm’s admiralty practice group and co-chairs the firm’s product liability practice group. Mr. Salas attended the University of Miami where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1986. While attending the University of Miami, Henry Salas was extremely active in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Order of Omega Honorary Society. Mr. Salas then earned his Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University School of Law, graduating within the top 20% of his class. While attending Law School, Mr. Salas received a series of honors and distinctions including being selected for Law Review, receiving “Book” awards for the highest grade in Criminal Law and Civil Procedure as well as being awarded the Law Center Scholarship for academic achievement. After graduation from Law School, Mr. Salas focused his practice on Federal and State Civil Litigation where he was responsible for all pretrial and trial activities. He worked under the guidance and supervision of former State and Federal Judge and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Thomas E. Scott where he did extensive trial work in defense of white-collar criminal actions in Federal Court throughout Florida. Before joining Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., Mr. Salas was a founding partner of a firm in Miami, Florida where he focused on admiralty defense and products liability actions. Mr. Salas’ firm received a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating which is the highest peer rating attainable. Mr. Salas has tried over 80 jury trials to verdict in his career. Mr. Salas has served as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University School of Law teaching pre-trial and trial skills to second year law students and Florida International University School of Law where he has taught products liability. Mr. Salas is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Florida. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association, the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, Florida International University Athletic Association Board, Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and the Product Liability Advisory Council. In 2010-2018, Mr. Salas was named as a “Super Lawyer” by Florida Super Lawyers magazine. He has also received recognition in the 2013-2017 Edition of U.S News & World Report, The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Product Liability Litigation – Defendants.
